4K Healthy School Assessment and Award
A group of 4K educators and administrators in Dane County have recognized the need to strategically look at the way their programs promote physical activity and good nutrition.
We’ll be piloting a 4K Healthy Schools Assessment Tool in January, 2024. This tool allows school staff to look at the physical activity and nutrition environment of their school. A group of Collaborative partners, including staff from Aldo Leopold Nature Center, the YMCA of Dane County and the Oregon School District, created the tool around best practices in connecting children to nature, physical activity during the school day and increasing healthy food options. The assessment enables 4K staff to look at their practices and policies and identify key action items. The Healthy Kids Collaborative will provide support for the assessment and learning opportunities for center staff.
